Each US Avalanche Center is supported by an affiliated nonprofit entity, or friends group. In essence, the center provides the structure and technical know-how and the non-profit entity engages in fundraising and outreach. Nationwide, more than 50% of avalanche center operational costs are covered by community donations and other partnerships!

“Missoula Avalanche” is the friends group that operates in support of West Central Montana Avalanche Center (WCMAC) forecasting and education initiatives. Winter 18/19 fundraising goals include expanding the WCMAC forecasting program and motorized education initiative!

Missoula Avalanche consists of skiers, snowboarders and motorized mountain riders. We strive to be as diverse as possible and are actively looking for motivated members of the winter backcountry community who might be interested in joining our board. Please feel free to contact us if you or someone you know might fit this description.
