Observation Date: 03/25/2015

Route/Location:
Touring on east and north facing terrain above Downing Mountain Lodge in the central Bitterroot range.

Weather:
Intermittent sun with light west winds. Stayed cool in shade all day, sun warmed snow on other aspects.

Wind:
Light west wind and minor wind loading only on the tops of ridges.

New Snow: 6-12″

Avalanche Activity:
We were able to trigger a few soft slabs up to 10″ deep. Storm snow failing on ice crust. North facing terrain was the most suspect due to hardest crust / bed surface. These avalanches were small and did not run far or with much energy.
