Toured up standard Gash Knob approach and turned around at base of steep climb at 7000'. Skied skin track back down.
Thick rain crust that ended about 5300' ~6" of new snow above that. No wind, sunny and calm during tour, but evidence of strong North winds previously. Small south facing micro-cornices and even scraped bare in spots on the approach. Some wind deposited and wind crust snow skied with no cracking or whoomphing.
No avalanches seen on any aspect. Great skiing. Just starting to get warm and south aspects were warming up but not wet. Snow was almost snowball-able.
