Observations

Been skiing area all week. Earlier this week(2 days ago) intentionally triggered slide next to this one lower down on this ridge. Yesterday entered farther up on ridge near top.Old track weren't that covered. Today entered on steeper entry thinking not much new snow transfer. Very firm snow surface, more concern side slipping. Slow traverse to possible soft snow and better skiing(looked better). Quite firm , not cakey new wind slab. Thought being, quit firm, 3-4days since big wind transfer, in sun should be OK. Anyway snow surface broke (small 1.5 avalanche) I got knocked down, I aimed down and sideways out to side. Actually surprised skis weren't turned downhill . Walk away.Maybe should of gone up to usual entry, maybe should of jumped around before start traverse. Lucky small slide in forgiving train.
