I dug an ECT today on a northeast slightly wind loaded slope at 7800'. The total depth of snow was 200 cm. My pit was 100 cm deep. Depths are from the surface:
ECTn16 20 cm (this is the new snow this week)
No other results. Upon prying the column out I was able to get it to break just underneath the early March atmospheric river layer which was a light crust at 43 cm depth. It did not break cleanly.
While skiing the new snow was sloughing significantly on slopes steeper than 35. I notice all of the south facing Murphy chutes had slid and I did not see any sign they were skier triggered. They did not look like wet slides so I am not sure what released them.
