Since 2001, the West Central Montana Avalanche Foundation has been a vital link between limited funding from the U.S. Forest Service and the necessary expenses to run the West Central Montana Avalanche Center. Today, we contribute over two-thirds of the center’s operating budget, maintain Missoulaavalanche.org, offer top-notch avalanche education, and connect backcountry enthusiasts with crucial safety resources. With your support, we continue to provide these essential services for our growing backcountry community.

Did you know that, unlike most Avalanche Centers, we are a local nonprofit organization? This unique setup presents challenges as we strive to deliver top-tier forecast products to our growing user base. Yet, it also empowers you, the backcountry recreationist, to directly shape your community by aiding our expansion efforts!
Our goal is clear: raise funds to increase the frequency of avalanche forecasts until we achieve full-week coverage! Last year, your generosity allowed us to add a third forecaster to our team, significantly improving our capabilities. This year, we expanded our weekly forecast schedule to include a fourth forecast day. With your continued support, we can plan for additional forecasts and progress toward full-week coverage!
