In conjunction with U of M Campus Recreation we will be hosting a free Mountain Weather Class. Featuring guest speaker, LeeAnne Allegretto, Meteorologist and Avalanche Program Leader from The National Weather Service.
The class will be in the North Urey Underground Lecture Hall from 600pm -800pm

Part 1: An introduction to mountain weather. Meteorologist, LeeAnn Allegretto, will give a lecture about forecasting the weather for the mountains in Western Montana. She will discuss the differences in snow amounts and weather patterns of local mountain ranges, as well as, speak to the ranges in the Bozeman area.
Lecture topics will include: 1. The Atmosphere and How the Weather Works. 2. Storm Systems (high and low pressure systems). 3. Satellite and Radar Imaging. 4. Mountain Topography (basic orographic with local orographic effects).
Part 2: Mountain Weather. Meteorologist, LeeAnn Allegretto, will discuss an introduction and navigation to weather computer models. She will also talk about mountain winds, snowfall forecasting and long range outlooks with point forecasting.
