Started from Coyote Coulee Trailhead. Followed Camas Creek trail to Camas Lake then south and up northeast shoulder of Camas Peak.
Weather:
Mostly sunny throughout the day.
Wind:
Observed cross loading and top loading on north east aspects.
New Snow: No New Snow
Avalanche Activity:
Did not observe any avalanche activity.
Other Comments:
Dug a snow pit on Camas Peak on an east aspect at 46° 9’10.61″N 114°17’34.96″W at 8012 ft. Slope angle was 20 degrees. Snow depth was 140 cm. ECTP23 +2 Q2 on a weak layer 40 cm beneath the surface. We had already planned to turn around due to time and proceeded to ski our planned descent, which included a short 32° slope through dense trees. We ski cut the top of this slope with no results and continued down to Kidney Lake.
