Overview | Part I
In this 1-hour, free avalanche awareness session, our expert avalanche educators will deliver an introduction on how avalanches happen, what they look like, and how to avoid them. Through video footage, photos and engaging dialog, you will learn about why you should be aware, and how to be prepared when you travel in the backcountry. We’ll talk about gear, terrain, snowpack and more!
The introduction to avalanches lecture series is a two-part lecture followed by an on snow field day. This series provides participants with a prerequisite for an upcoming avalanche level 1 course and opportunity for refreshing their skills. Each component builds upon the previous section and is designed for both current and aspiring backcountry travelers. In order to register for the field day, participants must have attended both Parts I and II.
