Found an isolated area with shooting cracks (10+m long), collapsing, whumpfing and propagating 12 inches down on a layer of buried surface hoar (luckily we were on a 24* degree slope, otherwise it could have slid). Located in semi open to open areas, facing N-E (out of wind, and sun). As we skinned on the low angle approach we quick checked for the buried surface hoar layer, finding it intermittently and most areas were fairly well bonded. We skiied low angle (=< 30*) terrain
