Observation Date: 02/06/2020
Route/Location:
We skied near Point Six in Jenny Bowl and the Grant Creek drainage.
Weather:
Around 10″ of new snow made for great skiing. Light to moderate winds were loading east and north slopes at all elevations. No major snowfall during the afternoon.
Wind:
Light to moderate out of the west.
New Snow: 6-12″
Avalanche Activity:
We easily triggered fresh wind slabs with ski cuts. One wind loaded slope released naturally. The crown was at least 200′ wide and up to a foot deep. We also saw shooting cracks on lower-angle terrain while we were skinng and skiing.
Other Comments:
Stability was very good on slopes that had not been wind loaded. Great skiing out there.
