Observation Date: 12/17/2020

Route/Location:
Toured from Lolo Pass Visitor Center and lapped the northern ridge of Mt. Fuji. Dug a pit on a north, northeast aspect at about 6000 feet, a bit shy of the top.

Weather:
28 degrees, light and variable wind. Intermittent precip (snow, gropel) trending toward clearing.

Wind:
Light and variable. Not much evidence of recent wind transport.

New Snow: 12+”

Avalanche Activity:
No signs of natural avalanche. Dug pit at approximately 6000ft on a north, northeast aspect. Slope angle about 35 degrees. Snow depth was 110cm to the ground. ECPT11 with a Q1 shear. Column failed about 14 inches down, corresponding with the new snow on top of the buried weak layer. Below that, snow was well consolidated.

Skied low angle terrain and observed intermittent cracking and whoomphing.
