Observation Date: 12/19/2020

Route/Location:
Lindy Peak Environs

Weather:
Stuck to low angle eastern aspects

Wind:
High winds out of the west between 1200 and 1500. Fairly calm otherwise. High winds were apparent on high ridges for most of the day.

New Snow: 3-6″

Avalanche Activity:
No naturals observed, but steeper eastern aspects were getting loaded from transport. We gave a wide birth to any overhead hazard and stuck to very low angle terrain. During the skin up there was an obvious wind slab forming or had formed the the night before.

Other Comments:
A few of us wanted to go check out the snow coverage around Lindy Peak. Approximately 130 cm at 7200’. Obvious wind slab formation occurring during our hike, even in more protected areas. Never noticed any collapses or saw any naturals and stomped on a few small test slopes which didn’t yield any failures. Never dug down to check for weak layers. Wind transport, especially on high ridges was quite impressive and we gave these loaded slopes much respect on our decent.
