For more than 20 years, WCMAF has been a trusted leader in avalanche education across western Montana and neighboring regions, educating thousands of students each winter. In addition to full-day and multi-day courses, we provide Know Before You Go avalanche awareness presentations throughout the Bitterroot Valley, Seeley–Potomac area, Clark Fork Valley (Superior), and the Missoula area.

Courses marked “Sponsored by Missoulaavalanche.org” do more than educate. Net proceeds directly support local avalanche forecasting operations and help fund free and low-cost community education programs.


Learn from Experienced Professionals

All courses sponsored by Missoulaavalanche.org are taught by professional instructors who are Pro members of the American Avalanche Association (A3). Our educators bring extensive experience as avalanche forecasters, professional ski patrollers, and avalanche educators, with a proven track record of safely leading groups in winter backcountry environments. Course content meets or exceeds A3 education guidelines, ensuring students receive industry-leading instruction that is current, credible, and nationally recognized.
