Observation Date: 02/07/2021

Route/Location:
We left the ski area boundary past the beacon park and toured out to find mellow, low angle terrain due to high avalanche danger.

Weather:
The weather was not as expected – total opposite except for temps. We were prepared for possibly 2-4″ of precipitation and WSW – NW winds from 13 – 18 mph. Wind chill values were forecasted down to -7. It turned out to be a beautiful day with blips of sun, mild breezes, and little precipitation.

Wind:
Light winds from SW, changing to N. Cornice formation on NE aspects. Plenty of wind lips and windpillow on the ridge we traveled at approximate elevation of 7450.

New Snow: 0-3″

Avalanche Activity:
Small cornice fall on ESE aspect.

Other Comments:
Able to kick loose wind slabs about 4-6″ thick on small wind pillow near ridgeline.
