Observation Date: 12/20/2014
Route/Location:
Lost Horse Creek just below the stateline ridge between Bailey Lk. and Twin Lakes.
Weather:
Light snow, overcast
Wind:
Mostly light out of the West.
New Snow: 3-6″
Avalanche Activity:
Witnessed 4 small slides triggered by snowmobiles. Largest were 60ft across and 8-10″ deep. Started on slopes 40-45 degrees and dissipated as the slope angle decreased. We were staying mostly in the trees but anywhere that was more open we had several small slides 20-30ft across and 8-10′ deep. None of them slid very far due to the slope angle decreasing. This is also typically wind loaded terrain and that was definitely true yesterday.
