Observation Date: 01/05/2015
Montana side, hangover ridge, north facing slope, ~25 degree slope, 5600′.
Warm, wet snowfall, cloudy with rain up to 5000′
Sustained winds 6-8 mph, gust 20 mph
New Snow: 6-12″
About 12″ new, wet heavy snow on top of ~14 of super light snow from last few days. Pit test EC4 and ECTP 4 with full propagation 30cm down. Performed multiple tests, similar results (4/5). Noted cracking in snow while digging small snow cave to get out of wind on lower angle terrain. Trees dropping snow with warming temps.
Stuck to low angle, high coverage areas to ride down and out. Snow was much heavier than a day prior, skiing and skinning
