Observation Date: 01/19/2016

Route/Location:
Skied north into Jenni Lake from on-area and then onto the Three Tier ridge heading west.

Weather:
Warmer and humid day. Good cloud cover. Weather in the 20’s with a 10 mph wind out of SW. Snow was condensed and appeared to come in heavy and dense over last couple storms. Some wind buffing/deposits of snow and settling felt (no “womphing”) while skinning. No natural releases witnessed.

Wind:

New Snow: 6-12″

Avalanche Activity:
We dug a pit on NE facing slope and got a ECT of 14 @ 30cm on the new snowe interface with a SQ2. Could not get rest of column to react,

Other Comments:
First skier on three tier proper got this new interface to settle and then fracture about 50cm deep and 75 yards wide about three turns into this NE facing ~35 degree slope. This fracture stepped down and took the majority of the slope with it. No one caught in the slide.
