Route/Location:
It was a windy and intermittently snowy/sunny day in the central Bitterroots yesterday. No evidence of snowpack instability on our approach and initial cornice test.
We dug a pit just before the roll-over on the run from the summit of Mill Point down to Tag Alder Lake. (7660′ on NE 25 degree slope) Total snow depth at our pit location was 260cm. Some evidence of wind-loading in the upper 10cm of snow. CT23 Q1 on a very thin melt crust 45cm down from surface.
Weather:
intermittently snowy with new snow accumulation and wind loading. The sun came out in the late afternoon.
Wind:
intermittently very windy with gusts in excess of 30 knots. lots of snow being transported.
New Snow: 0-3″

Other Comments:
We enjoyed powder conditions on a seemingly stable snowpack.
