Observation Date: 03/28/2017

Route/Location:
South Couloir on Grey Wolf Peak

Weather:
Snowing lightly in Riddell Lakes basin and above, cloudy below.

Wind:
Moderate winds gusting high on the peak, snow transportation

New Snow: 6-12″

Avalanche Activity:
AS/u triggered R1 D1 soft slab wind slab approximately 20ft wide and ran 30ft long with 8-10″ crown. Released on new/old snow interface. While most of the snowpack was locked up, wind slabs were still forming up high. To avoid this danger, we transitioned ~20ft from the top of the couloir. First skier still triggered a small soft slab on the first turn large enough to carry a person. No one was caught.
