Observation Date: 01/17/2018

Mt Fuji, N and NW side.
Thick, difficult, almost supportable crust everywhere except strict N facing above 5600 ft.

Pit test:
33* slope
NNW face
5800 ft.

155 cm snowpack
ECTN top 50 cm’s with Q2-Q3 shears
Thanksgiving crust gave with a strong shovel shear, but seemed fairly well bonded, although the very large crystals will make sintering presumably slow
Slight and intermittent surface hoar developed.
Felt safe, although the skiing wasn’t the best!

30* F, calm, overcast, intermittent and slight surface hoar built up over crust on a few aspects and elevations
