Observation Date: 02/06/2018

Route/Location:
Downing Mountain

Weather:
Lightly snowing
About 30 degrees

Wind:
0-10 mph. Less wind than the previous two days.

New Snow: 6-12″

Avalanche Activity:
We performed an ECT on an east-facing 28-degree slope at 7600 ft. The new snow to a depth of 20 cm compressed quite a bit during the test. On Hit #21, snow at a depth of 35 cm moved but did not propagate. Facets were still visible at 70-cm depth but did not react during the ECT. Total snow depth of 180 cm.

Other Comments:
We saw no natural releases on adjacent slopes of 35-40 degrees. The previous day, we saw natural roller balls on 25-30-degree slopes.
