Route/Location:
Access was from Snowbowl backcountry gate. Slide occurred in the main south-facing chute on Murphy.

Weather:
The weather was sunny. Significant UV on slope.

Wind:
Light or no wind.

New Snow: No New Snow

Avalanche Activity:
The most recent snow slid on a harder, buried crust. South aspect. Behaved like a point release more common in spring. Slow moving unconsilidated slide, no slab behavior noted. Did not measure slope but approximately 40 degrees. Depth of layer that slid was approximately 5″. Skier triggered. Slide ran approximately 1000 feet. Shallow deposition pile, less than 2′. Elevation was approximately between 7500 and 8000 feet.

Other Comments:
No burials or entrapped skiers. Slide moved slowly.
