Observation Date: 12/24/2018

Route/Location:
From Lower Trailhead to Skier’s Gash at point 8600. Skiing northeast bowl, cutting back right to ridge with southeast bowl and out.

Weather:
Lightly snowing for entire tour.

Wind:
No wind during tour, other than light breeze on upper elevation ridgelines.

New Snow: 12+”

Avalanche Activity:
No visible avalanche activity. No collapsing or cracking in snowpack from skin track or in crossing mildly loaded slopes. Generally new snow was not forming cohesive slab and did not have elasticity necessary for propagation. Steeper slopes may have generated sluff, but nothing major.

Other Comments:
Nice to find stable conditions. Discussed with several other skiers who all experienced similar conditions. Storm appeared to have come in right side up which lended to generally more stable conditions. In addition, the lack of strong wind assisted with a lack of new slab formation. Skiing was good.
