Observation Date: 12/30/2018

Route/Location:
Skinned up the trail with overnight gear. Low snow until 5800′. Piled up after that. Dug no pits throughout our time.

Due to the recent avalanche conditions and taking a look at the ridge, we decided to be cautious and lap the low-angle trees with great coverage and dry powder. Saw some cracks around the skin tracks and heard occasional whumpfing.

Weather:
Passing, heavy snowstorms throughout the day.

Clear, cold skies during the night continuing to 12/31.

Wind:
12/30: Wind sporadically N-NE at 15-20 mph.

12/31: Wind was mild.

New Snow: 3-6″

Avalanche Activity:
None witnessed on S-SW-W aspects.

Whumpfing caused by current persistent weak layer.
