Observation Date: 01/12/2019
South of Lolo pass.
Very sunny but not quite too warm. Maybe 35F.
New Snow: No New Snow
No recent natural or human avalanches seen.
We found a weak layer 20″ deep in a north facing pit at 7800 ft that propagated with energy. We were looking for the thickest snowpack, coldest part of the basin, hoping to have good safe riding. But the slab released with such quick, clean energy we turned around.
180 cm total snow.
