Observation Date: 02/01/2020

Route/Location:
SE Bowl Little St. Joe

Weather:
High winds out of the South and West and well above freezing. Overnight freeze line about 7400′. Wind in the SE bowl was swirling around and upsloping leaving no aspect unmarred. Wind was so strong it knocked me off my feet and we witnessed numerous trees getting blown over throughout the day.

Wind:

New Snow: No New Snow

Avalanche Activity:
None observed

Other Comments:
The number one concern of the day was falling trees. We had four trees blow down in close proximity to us during gusts. The trail was a mess of broken branches and blowdown for most of the entire way up. Alot of work with a saw will be warranted to clear it all completely.

The combination of wind affected snow, breakable meltfreeze crust or wet, warm snow made linking turns while skiing a challenge and conditions could be described as variable at best.
