Observation Date: 02/11/2020

Route/Location:
Lower Gash Creek Area

Weather:
Broken sky but quite a bit of sunshine. Ramping WNW winds. Steady light snow by 3:00.

Wind:
WNW 15-30mph on ridges. Moving quite a bit of the new snow. Noted many of deposits 3+ feet.

New Snow: 3-6″

Avalanche Activity:
None observed although I did not travel above 7k ft.

Other Comments:
Poked around the burns either side of the ridge b/t Gash & S. Gash Creeks. Winds were starting to roll out of the WNW by about 1:00. Did not observe any red flags in the mid-elevations–I would think we’ll need a good shot of wind this week to see much activity within the new snow…did not note any sensitivity in wind loaded areas today although I did not get on anything steeper than ~32deg. Had a few good periods of afternoon sun and crusts were forming on my exit. Good skiing…
