Observation Date: 02/22/2020

Route/Location:
Little st Joe to Pinball wizard

Weather:
Clear and warm most of the day. There were 50 mile an hour gusts in ridge lines coming out of the West and south west.

Wind:
Strong winds on ridge lines and peaks coming from west/ southwest

New Snow: No New Snow

Avalanche Activity:
There was one medium sized wet slide and several small wet slides at about 7,000 feet in the pinball wizard gully. Roller balls were persistent on lower half of gully.

We dug a pit on a south/ southeast aspect just below 9,00 feet. There was about 72 inches of snow with a 4” layer of very faceted sugary snow about 6 feet down. We conducted an ect test and saw a layer 12 inches down fail on ECT 30 but barely moved. We couldn’t get the persistent week layer near the base of the snowpack react.

Other Comments:
The sun was definitely creating loose wet avalanches In the afternoon on south facing aspects.

We didn’t see any other avalanche activity.
