Observation Date: 03/02/2020

Route/Location:
Up Bass into Lappi basin. Skied N/NE and out the drainage.

Weather:
Mostly low cloud cover. Not particularly cold, few brief moments of sun.

Wind:
Very calm below ~6000k feet, gusting to 40-50mph on the ridge. Not a lot of snow available for transport, but cross loading was evident and wind direction was not very consistent. The only sign of sensitivity within wind deposits was actually on a SW just off the ridge into Kootenai.

New Snow: 0-3″

Avalanche Activity:
No real red flags observed in travel today. Pit dug at 7200′ N had ECTX with around 260cm total depth. We topped out around 2:30 and found wind deposits up to around 12″ depth on N/NE. Found none of these to be sensitive at all…great riding conditions down to around 6000k considering the weather/new snow. Hard to find crust-free riding out there…

Other Comments:
My first time in Bass–there are several downed trees to be watched for on the ski out if using the summer trail.
