Observation Date: 04/12/2020
Route/Location:
We toured up and over Lindy Peak to Daughter of the Sun and then returned over the East Face of Lindy Peak.
Weather:
In and out of sun all day with very minimal wind even on the ridge lines. It felt much warmer than the forecast on the sunny slopes, in the shade the snow stayed soft and powdery.
Wind:
New Snow: 6-12″
Avalanche Activity:
Numerous wet slabs had run during the last week on South and East Faces. These ran around 1-2 feet deep and were very wide when the slopes did break.
Other Comments:
Overall the new snow that came in on Saturday came in right side up and we felt comfortable on east facing slopes where the snow was not warming due to solar radiation. This new snow insulated the pack below, so in all of our pits we were seeing slushy snow below the fresh 6-12 inches.
