Observation Date: 11/22/2020
Skied up Carlton ridge and dropped down to Carlton lake. Skied laps on both the NE facing slopes just west of the lower angle trees, as well as the east-facing bowl off North peak. Had an adventurous luge-track ski out back to the trailhead descending Carlton ridge, the lower 3rd of which has many a shark and stump.
Sunny and 30F–just perfect.
New Snow: No New Snow
No visible signs of recent activity.
Dug a pit on the NE face of North peak just below the ridge. 8000 ft. ECTN. Distinct wind-loaded layer on top of more consolidated snow, with harder crust layers ~30cm and 60cm. No propagation or collapsing of wind loaded layer. Probed to 300cm+ on wind loaded slopes above 7500ft, 50-100cm on wind-scoured and S facing slopes at similar elevations.
