Observation Date: 12/18/2020

Route/Location:
Hiked west of lolo pass along the crooked fork road then along ridge from south to north.

Weather:
34 F. Mostly cloudy with a 5-10mph wind out of the west. No snow falling

Wind:
Evidence of wind transport was evident by flagging on ridge trees and deposition zones on the lee ward sides (East aspects). None visibly occurring during travel.

New Snow: 6-12″

Avalanche Activity:
Did not witness avalanche activity. While hiking along the ridge I heard several whoompfs and saw a couple of shooting cracks. Dug a pit just off the ridge 25 degree SE facing slope, about straight up from the comms shack/antennae on the road (6,200 feet). ECTP 22 propagated across the entire column (110cm deep) at 75cm in facets on a Q1 crust layer.
