Observation Date: 01/16/2021
Route/Location:
Big Jo, east bowl
Weather:
Calm
Wind:
Mostly calm
New Snow: 3-6″
Avalanche Activity:
Pinball went sometime in the past week, the lower gully was jam packed with what looked like wet slab debris. I imagine it slid during last week’s rain event. The crown from last week’s avalanche on the east bowl headwall was completely filled in. Nothing else observed.
Other Comments:
Pretty thin, faceted snowpack overall below 8000ft, capped by a rain crust all the way to tree line. Between last week’s rain and wind event, surface conditions were variable and pretty marginal.
