We parked at the upper trailhead and skined along the trail making our way to the bottom of the south bowl in about 6″ of new snow with no base. Trail in good condition with no down trees. Started seeing more new snow and base at bottom of bowl.

Periods of heavy snow and wind.

Strong gusts generally out of the west with notable blowing snow.

New Snow: 6-12″

Avalanche Activity:
~7800′ East facing aspect: 12″ high quality powder sitting on a 15″ base. As expected new snow bonded poorly to the old sun crust with facets below. No signs of natural avalanche activity. South aspects had noticeably less base.

Other Comments:
Sea of deadfall and rocks to navigate this early in the season forcing us to chose our line carefully on the ski down, could use another storm at Gash.
